Pinnacles Campout - May 10-12, 2013

Route To | Route From | Route Map | History

The Pinnacles Campout is a good way to try out self-contained touring. Or the SAG is also available to carry your gear. The routes are about 80 miles each way, not too hilly, and could be fewer miles by helping with the driving.

Camp reservations have already been arranged. We have sites #28, #29, and #30, good for 6 campers each, or 18 people total. The Pinnacles Campground has a small store, and a very nice pool (so bring your suit). Our camp sites are across the road from the restroom, and the showers are near the pool.

The plan is to stay for 2 nights, with the middle day for hiking in the park. There are many options for hiking that middle day, or maybe even a bike ride down Hwy 25 to Bitterwater School and back.

We meet behind the Jack N Box on Santa Teresa near Cottle. Overnight parking is available on Camino Verde, or ride from home. Use 6129 Camino Verde Drive, San Jose, CA 95119 with GPS.

Fees - $30 for both nights, or $20 if only staying for 1 night. Limit of 12 people.

SAG Sections - For the trip there, the route is split into 3 sections - San Jose to Gilroy Bolsa Chevron to Tres Pinos to Pinnacles. About 25 miles each.
For the trip back, the route is split into 6 sections, with a stop at Nob Hill Market in Gilroy for Lunch. Pinnacles to Paicines to Dunneville to Gilroy to Uvas Dam to summit of Buffalo Hill to San Jose.
